The Ephorate of Antiquities of Thesprotia, which participates in the “Coastal Heritage Network – CoHeN” project, implemented with funding from the Interreg V-A Greece-Italy 2014-2020 program, welcomed with great joy on April 11, 2022 in “Sotiris Dakaris” Hall of the Archaeological Museum of Igoumenitsa the public and private stakeholders that are related to the tourist development and promotion of Thesprotia and are in general active in the field of tourism.
The main goal of the workshop was to inform the public and private tourism bodies about the monuments in Greece and Italy in which interventions are taking place, in order to be cultural stops for Greek and foreign visitors and to be included to the regional tourist routes.
Special emphasis was given to history, topography and architectural features of Igoumenitsa and Margariti castles -until recently almost unknown to both visitors and residents of the area- in which enhancement work is carried out in Thesprotia.
Interesting views and ideas were exchanged for the promotion of the monuments and their connection with the social web.
During the workshop, a short questionnaire was distributed, in order to explore the profile and the requirements of the visitor of the area as well as the possibility to attract him to lesser known destinations, which, however, have a special cultural interest.
