The project’s goal is the promotion of cultural tourism through the valorization of an Adriatic – Ionian Coastal Route by creating a network of monuments across the cross-border area. The project includes a series of targeted interventions on significant fortresses, castles, historic towers and lighthouses along the Ionian and Adriatic Sea (17 monuments in total, 11 in Greece and 6 in Italy) which will greatly improve the current condition of the selected heritage sites and enhance the visitors’ experience.
Moreover, CoHeN project aims to increase the attractiveness of involved territories by defining a common heritage management model as well as to strengthen participatory processes, involving the public bodies, the private stakeholders of culture and tourism sectors and local communities. The Ephorate of Antiquities of Corfu participates in the Programme with the project ‘Fortress Network of Corfu’, with a total budget of 550,000.00€.
The project aims at creating a Cultural Route on the subject of Corfu’s fortifications which will supplement the works already implemented in the five fortresses and castles engaged in the project.
Εxtensive interventions will be implemented at the Old Fortress, where restoration works at three military buildings and the creation of a permanent exhibition are planned. The Info Day will be organized in accordance with the current public health protection measures by SARS-CoV-2 for the attendees.
The use of a non-medical mask is mandatory throughout the meeting. The info-day will be broadcasted live through the project’s Facebook page in Greek.
