CULTURAL HERITAGE AND EDUCATION: DESIGNING A LOCAL HISTORY PROGRAM

On December 17, 2021, the Ephorate of Antiquities of Thesprotia, which participates in the “Coastal Heritage Network – CoHeN” project, co-funded by European Union, European Regional Development Fund and by National Funds of Greece and Italy, organised in “Sotiris Dakaris Hall” in the Archaeological Museum of Igoumenitsa the workshop “Cultural heritage and education. Designing a local history program” for primary and secondary school teachers.

The aim of the workshop was to inform the educational community about the history, topography and architectural features of Igoumenitsa and Margariti castles, in which interventions are taking place, and at the same time to assist in the design of an educational program related to the teaching of local history.

During the workshop a short questionnaire was distributed, in order to explore the possibility of connecting the history of the two monuments with the school material through the selection of appropriate pedagogical tools, so that the educational program that will be produced meets the needs of students.
